Start receipt, zero receipt & annual receipt (RKSV)

RKSV receipts around commissioning, monthly close and annual close, explained simply

→ Open registers in SimpliServ

Besides normal sales receipts, an RKSV register also has special receipts for commissioning and for closes. These receipts ensure the signature chain stays correctly built and remains traceable in an audit.

Which receipts are there?

In the context of RKSV, these receipts are especially relevant:

  • Start receipt (zero receipt) – when commissioning the register
  • Monthly receipt – for the monthly close
  • Annual receipt – for the annual close
  • Closing receipt – when decommissioning the register

These receipts are part of the fiscal receipt chain and complement the normal register receipts in ongoing operation.

Start receipt (zero receipt)

The start receipt is a receipt of €0.00 created when the RKSV signature chain starts. It serves as the register's first receipt and marks the commissioning of the signature chain.

In your system this receipt is created via Fiskaly at commissioning and then stored locally.

What happens in your system?

When commissioning the register:

  • The register is technically initialized
  • Fiskaly creates an initialization receipt (INITIALIZATION)
  • Your system adopts this receipt as the local start receipt / zero receipt

So the start receipt technically exists and is documented in your system.

Verifying the start receipt

After commissioning, the start receipt must be verified. In your current setup this verification is done by the customer themselves via the BMF receipt-check app.

Your system handles fiscalization via Fiskaly, but not the automatic verification of the start receipt via a FinanzOnline web service.

The start-receipt verification process

To verify the start receipt, the following steps are required:

  1. Print the start receipt
Print the start receipt (€0.00 with a QR code).

  2. Install the BMF receipt-check app
Install the BMF receipt-check app on a smartphone or tablet.

  3. Request an authentication code in FinanzOnline
In FinanzOnline, create an authentication code for the receipt-check app.

  4. Scan the QR code
Scan the QR code of the start receipt in the BMF receipt-check app and enter the authentication code.

  5. Check the result
The app shows directly whether the verification succeeded.

The start receipt should be verified promptly after commissioning and then retained like other RKSV receipts.

Monthly receipt

The monthly receipt is a special RKSV receipt for the monthly close.

It's relevant when there were sales via the register in the respective month. For months without sales, a monthly receipt is usually not required in practice.

In Fiskaly the receipt type for this is:

  • MONTHLY_CLOSE

Monthly receipts are typically generated automatically by Fiskaly when the next receipt is created after a month change.

Annual receipt

The annual receipt is the RKSV closing receipt at year end and an important part of the complete receipt chain.

In Fiskaly the receipt type for this is:

  • YEARLY_CLOSE

This receipt is usually generated automatically too, as soon as the next receipt is created after the year change.

The annual receipt should be retained like the start receipt and be provable when needed.

Closing receipt

A closing receipt is needed when a register is decommissioned, for example on:

  • replacing the register
  • change of operator
  • final shutdown

In Fiskaly this corresponds to the receipt type:

  • DECOMMISSION

After a decommissioning, a new start receipt is generated again for a new or newly registered register, which must be verified again.

Frequently asked questions

Is the start receipt created automatically?

Yes. When commissioning the register, Fiskaly automatically creates an initialization receipt. This is stored in your system as the start receipt.

Does Fiskaly replace verification with the BMF receipt-check app?

No. Fiskaly handles fiscalization, but in your current setup not the automatic start-receipt verification via FinanzOnline. Verification is therefore done by the customer with the BMF receipt-check app.

Does the start receipt have to be printed?

Yes, the start receipt should be printed and retained, as it's part of the RKSV documentation.
