Discount coupons
Create discount codes with a percentage or fixed amount, control validity and limits, and redeem them on invoices or at the register
A coupon is a discount code that customers or staff enter at payment to get a reduction. Coupons suit promotions like "10% off everything" or "€15 off from €100 spend".
Coupon ≠ voucher. A coupon grants a discount (percentage or fixed amount) and has no balance. A voucher, by contrast, is a value store with a balance that decreases with each redemption. Both are managed in the same overview under Coupons. Everything about value vouchers is in the guide Vouchers.
Create a coupon
Create a new coupon
In the coupon overview, click New. The code can be generated automatically or entered manually (3–64 characters, letters/digits/-/_). Optionally you assign a name and description.
Set the discount
- Discount type: percentage (0–100%) or fixed amount (€)
- Scope: on the whole order or per line
- Applicable to: all products, specific products, specific categories or specific customer groups
- Minimum order value (optional): only valid from this amount
- Maximum discount (optional): caps the reduction
Validity & limits
- Valid from / Valid until (optional): the promotion's time window
- Usage limit (optional): the maximum redemptions overall
- Limit per customer (optional): the maximum redemptions per customer
Options & save
- Active: switches the coupon on or off
- Stackable: allows multiple coupons on the same document
With Save the coupon is ready to use.
Status & lifecycle
In the overview, each coupon carries a coloured status:
- Active – valid and redeemable
- Partially redeemed – some uses consumed
- Fully redeemed – the usage limit reached
- Expired – after the valid until date
- Inactive – deactivated via the Active toggle
- Cancelled – administratively voided
Pausing is done via the Active toggle in the edit form; there's no dedicated "Pause" button.
Redeem a coupon
A coupon code is applied in two places:
- On an invoice – enter the code in the invoice's Coupon section and Apply. The discount is calculated immediately and can be removed again. More on invoices under Invoices.
- At the register (POS) – in the quick sale, enter the code in the coupon field. SimpliServ checks the code, subtotal, customer and line items and shows the valid discount directly. See Point of sale (POS).
If a coupon can't be applied, SimpliServ names the reason: expired, cancelled, usage limit reached, minimum order value not met, or the invoice is already locked.
