Digital receipt
Pass register receipts on to customers as an online receipt via link or QR code
→ Open registers in SimpliServ
The digital receipt is a public receipt page your customers open via link or QR code – with no paper and no login. It shows your company header, the receipt number and the full receipt as a PDF to view and save. The receipt arises directly from a register sale (→ Point of sale).
What the receipt page shows
When the page is opened (address …/receipt/<token>), SimpliServ loads the receipt header and displays:
- Logo or company name – your stored logo, otherwise the first company-header line (usually the company name) as the heading.
- Receipt no. – the visible receipt number.
- Cancelled – a red note if the receipt was cancelled.
- View – opens the full receipt as a PDF right in the browser (built-in PDF viewer).
- Save – downloads the receipt PDF (
Receipt_<number>.pdf).
The page is public and needs no account. The long, random token in the link is the only access requirement – without it the receipt can't be found. If the token is invalid, Receipt not found appears.
How the receipt arises from a sale
Every receipt automatically gets a unique, random token on creation. From it, SimpliServ generates the public link and QR code. You don't have to configure anything – you only pick the delivery method at checkout.
Complete the sale
Pay the sale as usual in the register checkout (→ Record a sale).
Choose receipt delivery
In the payment dialog, under Receipt, there are three options:
- Print – a paper receipt at the register printer (→ Set up printers).
- Digital (QR) – shows the QR code to scan after completion.
- Email – sends the receipt link to an entered address.
Hand over the receipt
For Digital (QR), the Digital receipt dialog opens with the QR code. For Email, the receipt link goes to the entered address – as confirmation, Receipt sent by email appears.
If you choose Digital (QR), the Digital receipt dialog appears after the sale with the note "Customer scans this code for the receipt.":
- The customer scans the code with their phone camera and lands straight on the receipt page.
- Print receipt additionally prints the paper receipt if wanted.
- Done closes the dialog.
The QR code encodes exactly the public link …/receipt/<token> – the same link that's also sent by email.
If you choose Email at checkout, you enter the recipient's address; SimpliServ sends the receipt with the receipt link.
You can also send the receipt later – from a register's receipt action menu:
Open the receipt
Register → Registers → choose a register. In the cash book, choose the Session tab (current session) or Total (all sessions) and click the action menu on the receipt you want.
Choose an action
- Show QR code – reopens the Digital receipt dialog for the receipt.
- Send by email – opens Receipt by email; enter an address and Send. Confirmation: Receipt sent.
From the receipt action menu, the same receipt can be shown as a QR or sent by email as often as you like – the link stays stable. Alongside these, Download receipt and Print receipt are available.
Cancellation and the digital receipt
If a receipt is cancelled (→ Cancellation), the link stays valid: the receipt page then shows the red Cancelled note, so the customer sees the current status.
