Claude
Set up SimpliServ as a connector in Claude – add a custom connector, sign in via OAuth and set tool permissions
→ Open connectors in Claude · Open the MCP connector
Set up SimpliServ as a connector in Claude: it can then read your customers, orders, invoices and inventory – and, once you allow it, perform actions too.
You need a Claude account on Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise and a SimpliServ user with the MCP interface → Access permission. No API key is required – authentication runs through OAuth. For ChatGPT there is a separate guide.
Setup (Claude in the browser)
Open connectors
Alternatively, in Claude go to Customize → Connectors. Click Add at the top right and choose Add custom connector.

If you cannot find the entry: connectors moved out of the general settings into the Customize section.
Fill in the fields
In the Add custom connector dialog, enter the following – each block has a copy button on the right:
Name
SimpliServRemote MCP server URL
https://api.simpliserv.app/api/v1/mcp
Leave the fields under Advanced settings (OAuth client ID and secret) empty: Claude discovers them automatically via /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server and registers itself through Dynamic Client Registration. Then click Add.
Sign in and consent
Claude opens the SimpliServ login. Sign in with your workspace user and confirm the consent screen. The connector then appears in the list with a check mark under Status.
Allow tools
Click the connector in the list. Under Tool permissions you see every tool, split into Read-only tools and Write/delete tools. For each tool you choose between three modes:
| Icon | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Check | Always allow – Claude uses the tool without asking |
| Hand | Ask – Claude asks before every use |
| No-entry sign | Blocked – Claude may not use the tool |

Use the dropdown next to a group heading to set every tool in that group at once.

A good starting point: allow read-only tools and set write/delete tools to ask. Claude can then research freely but cannot create, change or delete anything without your consent.
Setup (Claude Desktop)
Claude Desktop reads MCP servers from claude_desktop_config.json (macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude, Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude). Use the mcp-remote bridge for the OAuth flow.
Open the configuration
Claude → Settings → Developer → Edit Config (or edit the file manually).
Add the server entry
Add an entry under mcpServers:
"simpliserv": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://api.simpliserv.app/api/v1/mcp"]
}Restart and consent
Quit Claude Desktop and start it again. On first launch a browser window opens for the OAuth consent. After confirming, the tools appear in the tools menu.
Using it in a chat
The connector can be switched on and off per conversation: click + in the composer, then Connectors, and enable the toggle next to SimpliServ.
After that, just ask Claude, e.g. "Show me the open invoices for customer Müller".
A connected connector inherits your user's roles and permissions – it sees and may do only what you see and may do. See Users & roles.
Multiple workspaces
If you belong to several workspaces, the connector always works with your default workspace. Switching as you would in the web interface is not possible, because Claude sends no workspace identifier. Access to other workspaces is ruled out – your membership is checked on every request.
Revoking access
Two ways, both effective immediately:
- In Claude: open the connector and click Disconnect.
- In SimpliServ: in the MCP connector under Authorized OAuth clients click Revoke. This ends active sessions and invalidates all access tokens.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause and fix |
|---|---|
| No Add custom connector in the menu | Your plan does not allow custom connectors, or an admin disabled them on Team/Enterprise. |
| Connector shows "Connection issue" | Check the URL exactly: https://api.simpliserv.app/api/v1/mcp, without a trailing slash. Then reconnect. |
| Sign-in works but no tools appear | Your user is missing the MCP interface → Access permission – see Users & roles. |
| Claude does not use a tool | It is set to blocked under Tool permissions. |
| Data from the wrong workspace | The connector always uses your default workspace, see Multiple workspaces. |
