Getting started
Getting started with SimpliServ: the Base setup card on the overview, the mandatory steps for company data and inventory, the recommended setup order and what the dashboard shows you day to day.
→ Open the overview in SimpliServ
Welcome to SimpliServ. The Overview entry (top of the left-hand navigation) takes you to your dashboard. In a brand-new account you'll find the Base setup card there with a progress indicator. It walks you through the most important first steps and links straight to the right settings.
The Base setup card hides itself automatically once both mandatory steps are done. You can also dismiss it manually with the X in the top right – you'll still reach those settings afterwards through Administration.
Mandatory steps
Base setup actively tracks these two steps and fills the progress bar with them:
Company data
Open Administration → Organisation → Company. Your company profile provides the sender details for every document and email. The card checks the following:
- Company name, email
- Address, postcode, city
- VAT / tax ID
- Account holder, bank name, IBAN
- Standard tax rate, reduced tax rate
While anything is missing, the step shows e.g. "2 required fields missing"; once everything is filled in it reads "Complete". Details in the Set up your company guide.
Set up inventory
Open Administration → Modules → Inventory management. Create at least one warehouse and choose a default one. The step only counts as done once both are in place. More on this under Inventory & stock.
Further setup
Under Further setup the card links to additional areas we recommend before you go live:
Invite your team
Invite colleagues and assign roles
Adjust numbering
Set the next document numbers before real documents exist
Set up email sending
Your own SMTP server for documents and notifications
Set your number formats before you create your first real proposals, orders or invoices. The next number can be adjusted per document type, but once a document number has been assigned it can't be changed retroactively at will.
Recommended order
These steps go beyond the card and set up your complete workflow:
Company & master data
Fill in your company data, create offices (if you have multiple locations) and check your number formats.
Team & permissions
Invite staff and assign roles under Users & roles. Recommend two-factor authentication for every account.
Design your documents
Set the logo, layout and copy of your documents under Document templates.
Build your catalog
Set up inventory and create products & services – the foundation for proposals, orders and invoices.
Import contacts
Capture or import your existing customers and suppliers as contacts.
Communication & payments
Set up email/SMTP for sending and enable online payments via Payments (Mollie).
What else does the overview show?
Once the base setup is done, the dashboard gives you a running daily overview:
- Metrics like total revenue, customers, active orders and open service requests – each with the change against the previous period, controlled by the date-range filter in the top right.
- The revenue trend as a chart and the order-status overview as a distribution.
- Lists of open tasks, open service requests and running time entries.
What you see depends on your permissions. Without dashboard access you're redirected automatically to the first page you're allowed to open – if there is none, you'll see a notice. In that case reach out to someone with an admin role.
