Reset passwords & PINs
Set a new password or attendance PIN for a team member as an admin.
When someone on the team forgets their password or attendance PIN, you set both from the user detail page. Neither action requires the old credentials.
Open the user detail page
Go to Administration → Users, click the person and you land on their detail page. The actions sit in the top right: Edit plus the … menu with the password and PIN entries.
Reset a password
Open the dialog
Pick Reset password from the … menu.
Enter or generate a password
Type a password or click Generate for a random one. Copy password puts it on the clipboard, Show password reveals it. Minimum length is four characters.
Save and hand it over
Set password applies it immediately. Pass it on through a secure channel – not a public chat.
Resetting signs the person out of all active sessions; they have to log in again everywhere. If two-factor authentication is enabled it is still required at the next login – a new password does not bypass 2FA.
This needs the admin.users.password.reset permission. Alternatively the person can use Forgot password? themselves, see Reset your password.
Set or reset an attendance PIN
The four-digit PIN is used for the clock-in terminal and for switching users. The Attendance PIN card sits on the detail page; the same entry is in the … menu as Set PIN or Change PIN.
Open the dialog
Click Set PIN (no PIN yet) or Change PIN (a PIN already exists).
Enter four digits
Type the new PIN on the keypad. As an admin you do not need the old one.
Hand over the PIN
Tell the person their new PIN. They can change it themselves at any time – see Attendance PIN.
This needs the attendance.admin permission. Without it the card is not visible on the detail page.
People without a PIN never appear in a Switch user menu and cannot clock in at the terminal. When user switching "does not work" in a company, missing PINs are usually the reason.
